Celebrating Kaylee

Celebrating 40 Years of Life

In October 2027, Kaylee Davidson-Olley will celebrate an incredible milestone – 40 years since receiving the heart transplant that gave her a second chance at life.

At just a few months old, Kaylee was critically ill and placed on life support at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital while waiting for a donor heart. After six agonising weeks, that call came. An eight-hour transplant operation followed, beginning a remarkable journey that continues four decades later.

Now, Kaylee’s 40th anniversary is being marked with a very special celebration, bringing together family, friends, medical professionals and supporters to celebrate life, recognise the incredible gift of organ donation and raise vital funds for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF).

Kaylee’s Story

On 14 October 1987, Kaylee received the donor heart that would change her life

The four decades that followed have brought extraordinary highs, enormous challenges and achievements that once may have seemed impossible – including representing Great Britain five times at the World Transplant Games and winning a gold medal in 2013.

Behind every chapter is the extraordinary decision of one donor family.

Supporting
CHUF

Turning an extraordinary milestone into support for others

As we celebrate Kaylee’s remarkable 40-year journey, we are raising funds for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF), helping the charity continue its invaluable work supporting children with heart conditions and their families.

Every donation will help CHUF support children and families when they need it most. Please give what you can and help us reach our fundraising target, together.

40 Years
One Gift

Kaylee’s remarkable story began with the gift of organ donation

Forty years ago, an organ donor gave Kaylee the chance to live. This anniversary is an opportunity to honour that extraordinary gift, remember the donor and their family, and celebrate everyone who has played a part in Kaylee’s journey.

By encouraging more families to talk about organ donation, we hope Kaylee’s story will inspire decisions that could save lives and give others the chance of a future.
